Foil PrintingWhat is Foil Printing? Foil printing has similarities to letterpress printing, in which the design is applied to paper with heat and pressure. Once the design is finalized, metal plates are created in the appropriate design. The plates are first mounted to the machine, heated up and then a strip of foil is threaded through the machine. Your products is then stamped with enough pressure to seal a thin layer of foil to the paper which leaves an indent on the paper (deboss) and allows the colour from the foil to ‘bleed’ onto the page, and voila! Instinctively, bright shiny foil portrays glamour, elegance & luxury– it’s ingrained in our psyche! As foil is an opaque medium, you can foil on darker colours for a stunning effect that won’t fade.
